The International Fund for Technological Development, established by IBEC together with the Government of the Russian Federation, took part in the work of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The main goal of the Fund is to facilitate the transfer – that is, the creation, development, promotion and replication – of advanced technologies, as well as the localization of industries created on their basis for the long-term sustainable development of the economy of the Russian Federation and the economies of the IBEC member countries.
For the Fund, created in 2019, SPIEF became the debut event of such a serious scale and representativeness. The activities of the Fund were presented by Vadim Kulikov, Head of the IFTD Project Group at IBEC, within the framework of a number of key sessions of the St. Petersburg Forum Business Program.
It is important that the forum's agenda included many sectoral topics that directly intersect with the priority areas of the IFTD activities, including mechanical engineering, radio and microelectronics, instrument making, the medical industry and pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, advanced chemistry, aerospace technologies, technologies for environmental protection and smart use of natural resources, renewable energy. This confirms the relevance of the Fund's activities and indicates good prospects for its work.
On the sidelines of the SPIEF, Vadim Kulikov held a series of meetings with technology entrepreneurs, investment fund managers, federal officials and regional representatives, and foreign investors. Among potential partners of the Fund are such leading companies and organizations as Hevel, AEON, VIS Group, The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, Roscosmos. As a result of the meetings, a number of promising joint projects with a high-tech component were included in the work plan of the IFTD and IBEC, some of which are of a unique nature (the production of artificial proteins).
Presence of the IFTD on such a large-scale international business platform as SPIEF made it possible to highlight the Fund's capabilities and establish promising partnerships.
