IBEC’s Participation in the 35th BACEE Conference

The IBEC’s delegation headed by Ms. Irina Golovchenko, Board Chairman, took part in the 35th Conference of the Banking Association for Central and Eastern Europe (BACEE) “Risks and Opportunities in the CEE-CIS Financial Sector”.

The presentations about the state of the banking sector in Belarus, Croatia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Romania, Russia, Serbia and other countries were delivered in the course of the conference.

A significant discussion was held about key challenges for the banks in Central and Eastern Europe and CIS: control over NPL, work under pressure of national regulators, lack of “bankable” projects, decline in marginal revenue, increased competition from non-banking organisations, corporate governance and risk control problems, change in the payment landscape (sanctions and other restrictions), and new challenges in the banking security policy.

A speech of Ms. Irina Golovchenko, the IBEC’s Board Chairman, about objectives, priorities and advantages of the IBEC, about the importance of diversification of activities, which implies sustainability of operations and gives freedom to make business decisions, aroused considerable interest of the audience and provided a basis for further business communication with a number of the conference participants.
