The President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Met the IBEC’s Board Chairman

On Friday, 30 June 2017, Mr. Tran Dai Quang, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, met in Moscow with Ms. Irina Golovchenko, Board Chairman of the International Bank for Economic Co-operation.

Negotiations of the Vietnamese leader and the IBEC’s Board Chairman were held as a part of the official visit of Mr. Tran Dai Quang to Moscow, where he arrived at the head of the delegation to meet the President and top officials of the Russian state.

Ms. Irina Golovchenko told about the IBEC’s readiness to promote the Vietnamese manufacturers in obtaining export financing and ensuring access to external markets, to support their investments in the Bank’s member countries, as well as about the Bank’s readiness to finance the projects in Vietnam. It was confirmed that the IBEC intends to work closely with the State Bank of Vietnam and respective government agencies for connecting to the payment system in the Vietnamese currency VND. Since small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play an important role in job creation, export and GDP growth of Vietnam, the IBEC’s Board Chairman has confirmed the plans to finance SMEs jointly with the international financial institutions and leading Vietnamese banks.

The IBEC’s Board Chairman noted how significant a support of the Vietnamese Government for further development of the Bank is, in particular, in exchange of up-to-date information on the projects implemented in the country, because the IBEC is able to provide the Vietnamese partner banks and business entities with a wide range of trade finance instruments.

In turn, the President of Vietnam expressed full-fledged support to the IBEC as an international financial institution, of which the Socialist Republic of Vietnam has been a member since 1977. Mr. Tran Dai Quang expressed his readiness to promote the cooperation of interested ministries and government agencies of the country with the International Bank for Economic Co-operation.
