IBEC delegation visits the Lao People's Democratic Republic

The International Bank for Economic Cooperation (IBEC) delegation, led by Chairman Denis Ivanov, visited the Lao People’s Democratic Republic from March 11 to 14, 2025. During their visit, the delegation held meetings with the Deputy Governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR Mrs. Khankeo Lamaningao, the Deputy Minister of Finance Mr. Soulivath Souvannachoumkham and management of local commercial banks.

Mr. Ivanov presented IBEC primary activities, products, and strategic priorities to the partners. The Bank’s strategy for the 2024-2026 period emphasizes active expansion of its geographical reach to support international export-import operations of IBEC member states. South and East Asia is a region of particular focus.

To foster economic cooperation between Laos and its member countries, IBEC plans to develop partnerships with financial institutions and companies in the Republic and provide support for mutual foreign trade operations.

Deputy Governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR Mrs. Khankeo Lamaningao expressed interest in cooperation with IBEC, which is fully consistent with the strategic agenda of the Bank of the Lao PDR to diversify its international relations.

Deputy Minister of Finance Mr. Soulivath Souvannachoumkham expressed the significance of cooperation between Laos and IBEC, highlighting its potential to contribute to economic growth and development of relations between Laos and IBEC member countries, which the Republic considers strategic partners in the Asian region. The parties recognized renewable energy, healthcare and the food industry as the most perspective sectors.
