First visit of the new Chairman of the IBEC Board to the Republic of Poland

The Republic of Poland has become the first Member Country of the International Bank for Economic Co-operation to be visited by the newly appointed Chairman of the Board, Mr. Denis Ivanov by the invitation of the Polish Side. On 17th April 2018 Mr. Ivanov has met with the members of the Polish delegation to the Council of the IBEC: Undersecretary of State of Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Piotr Nowak and Member of the Management Board of National Bank of Poland, Mr. Paveł Samecki.

The Chairman of the Board has shared his plans for transforming the Bank into a modern, dynamically developing specialized financial institution. The main focus in the presentation of the development plans of the IBEC was made on the vigorous development of the Bank's business activity - trade finance, export credit and accounting operations - which was met with sincere interest on the Polish side. Mr. Ivanov noted that the Bank should become open to the introduction of new technologies based on global trends and innovations, including, among other things, "green" financing, digitalization and FinTech solutions, which are already beginning to be implemented in trade financing by first-class banks and international banking groups.

The Polish delegation has acknowledged the plans of the new Chairman of the IBEC Board for the global restructuring of the Bank and expressed its interest in having them discussed in the future in the formal setting. Undersecretary of State of Ministry of Finance of Poland, Mr. Nowak, noted that Mr. Ivanov faces difficult tasks and, to successfully solve it, he will have “to change the DNA of the Bank”.
